Arunachal: Massive "Ngorik" fish weighing 60 kg discovered in Siang river

A colossal specimen of the elusive "Ngorik" fish, also known as the Goonch or Bagarius yarrelli, weighing a staggering 60 kilograms, has been found in the Siang River near Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh.

The Ngorik, a species of catfish indigenous to the Indian subcontinent, is renowned for its impressive size and elusive nature. Bagarius yarrelli, as it is scientifically known, is a titan among freshwater fish, capable of reaching lengths of up to 2 meters. Its imposing presence and ferocious demeanor have earned it various monikers across different regions, including "Goonch" in Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi, "Baghar" or "Baghair" in Bengali and Bihari, and "Gauns" in Rajasthani.
