Arunachal Minister updates on Mompani road blockage amidst persistent rain, landslides

Minister of Women & Child Development and local MLA of Hayuliang, Arunachal Pradesh Dasanglu Pul addressed the ongoing road blockage at Mompani in Anjaw district, near the China border. The road, which has been impassable for a week due to heavy rainfall, continues to pose challenges despite round-the-clock efforts by workers and machinery from three different directions—Tezu, Hayuliang, and the middle section.

Minister Pul has been actively coordinating with key officials including the Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and the Project Manager of BIPL, the construction agency responsible for the road's restoration. According to the Project Manager, it is anticipated that another 10 days of intensive work will be required before the road can be reopened.

"The administration is currently grappling with the forces of nature," Minister Pul acknowledged. "The relentless rainfall has presented significant obstacles. While we are expediting our efforts, we must also recognize that nature's unpredictability is beyond our control."

In a message to the residents of Anjaw, Pul emphasized resilience and unity. "Let us stand together during these challenging times," she urged. "Stay informed, support each other, and prioritize safety above all else. Your cooperation and patience are invaluable as we navigate through this hardship."

RWD & Tourism Minister PD Sona while speaking to India TodayNE admitted the damages of PMGSY and other crucial infrastructures due to onset monsoon.

Minister Sona has announced that a comprehensive assessment of damages is currently underway in the flood-affected regions, specifically focusing on Kurung Kumey and Anjaw districts, along with other areas that have been cut off. The Department is actively compiling detailed reports on the extent of the destruction caused by recent adverse weather conditions.

Minister Sona indicated that efforts are being made to secure necessary funds from both the Central and State governments to restore connectivity in these crucial border districts. "We are working diligently to gather accurate data and will seek financial assistance to expedite the restoration process," Sona stated.

Regarding tourism, Minister Sona highlighted that tourists generally avoid traveling to the region during the peak monsoon season due to the heightened risk of landslides and other natural disasters. The state government has issued advisories urging travelers to exercise extra caution when visiting the high-altitude districts of Arunachal Pradesh during this period.

"We understand the concerns of tourists and prioritize their safety. The advisories are meant to ensure that everyone takes necessary precautions while traveling in these challenging conditions," Sona added.
