Arunachal MLA calls for stricter land transaction regulations

BJP legislator Pani Taram recently introduced a private member resolution in the state assembly, urging the government to address the unchecked buying and selling of land in Arunachal Pradesh.

Representing the 21st Koloriang constituency in Kurung Kumey district, Taram emphasised the need for a comprehensive framework to ensure transparency and protect citizens' rights in land transactions. The resolution aimed to safeguard the state's natural resources while promoting fair practices in property dealings.

The proposal initially garnered widespread support from various sections of society. However, Taram later withdrew the resolution following assurances from Urban Development, Housing and Land Management Minister Balo Raja.

In addition to his efforts on land regulation, Taram provided an update on ongoing restoration work in his constituency. He reported that relief efforts were progressing in Koloriang, Damin, and Sarli towns, which had been severely affected by recent cloudbursts and heavy rainfall.

The MLA acknowledged the Chief Minister's support in reconnecting several towns and villages impacted by the natural disasters.
