Arunachal Pradesh CM's Advisor seeks ticket from Kiren Rijiju's constituency

Ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Tai Tagak, Advisor to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has made it clear that he is seeking a party ticket from the parliamentary constituency of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.

Tagak has stated that he wants to contest from the Arunachal West parliamentary seat. Currently, Union Minsiter Kiren Rijiju is the MP from the Arunachal West seat.

Speaking on the matter, Tagak said that people have been telling him to contest from the seat as he is a senior party leader in the state. He also added that he will take up the challenge if the party leadership thinks him to be capable.

"People are telling me that it will be good if you can represent Arunachal in the Parliament. People are telling me that it is high time I tell the party about my intentions. Yes, I am in the fray for the candidate selection of the party. If the party leadership thinks me to be capable, then I shall take it up," said Tagak.

On the question of Kiren Rijiju, Tagak said that he not against the Union Minister in any way. He said Rijiju has been the MP for three to four times, and others should also get a chance.

"I am not against him. Our Kiren ji is doing very good work. He has completed three to four terms. Our party has grown, and there are lots of ticket hopefuls. But party will give ticket to only one person. It is not like anything is bad about Kiren Rijiju or Tapir Gao. There is a process within the party, and I am also involved in it. It is not like they have to give me for sure, the party will decide that. I will agree to our party's decision. If the party nominated me then I am ready to test the mood of the people." said Tagak.

The Advisor to the Arunachal CM further further said that there is no question of leaving the party in case he does not get the ticket.

"I have been a primary member of the BJP since 1995. This is my first and last party. It is not about coming or going. Everybody knows about it. There is a process of selection. If the leaderships wants then I am ready to take part in the festival of democracy. I am not against anybody. It does not matter if I get ticket or not," said Tagak.
