Arunachal: Protesters step out in Seppa town amidst 72-hour capital bandh

The impact of 72-bandh call was visible in Seppa town in Easy Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh as scores of people stepped out to protest even after the bandh.

The 72 hour bandh call by social activists in Arunachal Pradesh has disrupted normal life with business establishments remaining shut barring few emergency services such as hospitals and pharmacies.

The Itanagar capital region was totally shut, except for the hospitals and a few emergency services. Vehicles were off the road, barring a few private vehicles, and shops and government institutions remained closed.

According to the authorities, the bandh call was declared illegal and unconstitutional by the Supreme Court, and the District Magistrate had also issued Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, which prohibits the assembly of more than five people in one place.

The police have warned that strict action would be taken against anyone violating the law, except for genuine cases like medical emergencies.

Meanwhile internet services has been shut down temporarily.
