Arunachal Pradesh, faced severe flooding and landslides following a cloudburst on Sunday morning, causing chaos in the twin capital cities of Itanagar and Naharlagun. The unexpected cloudburst led to a flood-like situation and several landslides across the region.
The cloudburst struck around 10.30 am, resulting in landslides in various parts of Itanagar and nearby areas. Additionally, stretches of NH-415 were inundated, exacerbating the transportation challenges in the affected areas.
An official from the Disaster Management Department noted, "Although no warning has been issued, and no forecast of heavy rain in Itanagar, there has been a cloud burst and heavy rainfall in ICR, leading to flooding and landslides."
The sudden deluge has prompted local authorities to assess the damage and initiate relief efforts to assist affected residents.
