Arunachal: Three mortar shells recovered in Namsai district

Three mortar shells were found during construction work in Piyong Circle in Namsai district on July 14. According to reports, investigation has been initiated to determine the origin and purpose of the recovered mortar shells.

The mortal shells were recovered during a routine excavation for a construction project in Piyong Circle. The workers unearthed the 81 mm mortar shells. The police were informed about the alarming discovery and have commenced an investigation into the source and intended use of these mortar shells.

This incident follows a previous incident in January, when security forces successfully intercepted a significant cache of explosives in the Krishnapur area of Namsai district, near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. Prompted by credible information about anti-social elements, a joint operation conducted by the CRPF and Mahadevpur Police led to the recovery of explosives.
