Arunachal to introduce horticulture policy, bypassing Nursery Act: Minister Wangshu

Arunachal Pradesh's Horticulture & Agriculture Minister Gabriel Wangsu has announced plans to implement a comprehensive horticulture policy in the state. This decision comes in response to a private member resolution for a nursery act proposed by the Yachuli NCP MLA.

Speaking to India Today NE, Minister Wangsu explained that the upcoming policy would negate the need for a separate nursery act. He stated that they are involving scientists, experts, and technical professionals to develop a robust horticulture policy that will address all aspects of quality planting.

The minister emphasised that this initiative would position Arunachal Pradesh among the few states in India with a dedicated horticulture policy. The comprehensive approach aims to streamline regulations and promote best practices across the sector.

Wangsu also used the opportunity to encourage the state's educated youth to consider careers in horticulture and agriculture. Instead of focusing solely on government jobs and remaining unemployed, the young people should explore opportunities in these sectors to become self-sufficient, he urged.
