Meghalaya’s Sangma brothers tour Arunachal; Conrad celebrates NPP’s strong showing in assembly elections

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on July 20 said that over 500 stranded citizens have successfully crossed the Bangladesh border and reached Meghalaya via Dawki and the borders of Tripura. Most of the evacuated individuals are students from Meghalaya, with others hailing from different parts of the country as well as neighboring nations like Nepal and Bhutan.

Addressing the media in Itanagar, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma expressed gratitude for the concerted efforts that led to the safe evacuation. "The coordinated actions of the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, the Ministry of External Affairs, exporters, and the district administrations in border towns have been instrumental in ensuring the safety of our citizens," stated Sangma.

During a two-day tour in Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, alongside his brother James Sangma, celebrated the success of the National People's Party (NPP) in the recent assembly elections. Conrad Sangma, who also serves as the President of the NPP, felicitated the five NPP MLAs who emerged victorious in the elections.

Despite some setbacks, the NPP secured a significant foothold, becoming the second-largest party in Arunachal Pradesh with a 21% vote share across all 60 seats. "Our party's emergence as a significant force in Arunachal Pradesh is a proof to the hard work and dedication of our candidates and supporters," Sangma said.
