Mortal remains of Arunachal martyr brought home amid solemn reception

The mortal remains of IAF Corporal Tage Hailyang arrived in his hometown of Ziro in Lower Subansiri district on Thursday, as community leaders and officials gathered to pay their respects to the fallen serviceman.

A solemn reception ceremony took place at Hapoli Check Gate where MLA Er Hage Appa, Lower Subansiri Deputy Commissioner IAS Vivek HP, Superintendent of Police, and community-based organisation representatives received the body of the IAF corporal who lost his life in the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack.

Earlier, Assam Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah and Guwahati City Police Commissioner Partha Sarathi Mahanta had paid floral tributes to the soldier at Guwahati airport before his final journey home.

Corporal Hailyang, a native of Tajang village in Arunachal Pradesh, was killed in the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, while visiting the tourist destination with his wife, who survived the incident.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu expressed his condolences following the tragedy. "Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Corporal Tage Hailyang of the Indian Air Force, a brave son of Arunachal Pradesh. His life was cruelly taken in a senseless act of terror," Khandu stated.

"He served the nation with courage and honor," the Chief Minister added, noting that Hailyang's death represents "a great loss not only to his family but to the entire country."

The atmosphere in Ziro remained heavy with grief as residents mourned the loss of their local hero, who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
