PM Modi disappoints students over NET, NEET row: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam and issues related to NEET.

He stated that 24 lakh NEET aspirants and 9 lakh NET candidates have been let down.

Gogoi accused PM Modi of remaining silent on the matter.

On the cancellation of the UGC-NET exam & NEET issue, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi says, "Prime Minister Modi has failed the youth of India. With the NEET exam, 24 lakh people have been disappointed, and through NET exam 9 lakh students have been betrayed. Yet the PM chooses to be silent. Rahul Gandhi and Congress will not let them go. Tomorrow, the Congress party will hold a nationwide protest on this matter. Rahul Gandhi will raise the matter of NEET students in the House."

Earlier intelligence inputs from the National Cyber Crime Threat Analytics Unit raised red flags regarding the exam's integrity shortly after its conclusion. These concerns prompted the Ministry to prioritize transparency and uphold the sanctity of the examination process by opting for cancellation and scheduling a fresh examination at a later date.

The cancellation of UGC-NET 2024 marks a critical juncture amidst controversies surrounding other examinations conducted by the NTA, notably the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for undergraduate medical admissions. The NEET-UG results have been marred by allegations of irregularities, including the awarding of grace marks and alleged paper leaks.

In response to the NEET-UG issues, the Ministry of Education has initiated measures to address concerns, including seeking detailed reports from authorities regarding alleged irregularities in exam conduct in specific regions.
