SIVASAGAR: In the company of state education minister cum guardian minister of Sivasagar district Ranoj Pegu today inaugurated the newly set-up COVID-19 intensive care unit (ICU) at a hospital in Sivasagar district.

The ICU ward with a capacity of as many as 40 beds equipped with modern medical facilities would cater to COVID-19 patients in need of intensive care.

Setting up the COVID ward in Siu-Ka-Pha Multi-speciality Hospital is in an effort of the Assam government to scale up medical infrastructure in the state amid COVID-19 crisis.

State health minister Keshab Mahanta took to Twitter and shared the development.

"In the company of state Education Minister cum Guardian Minister of Sivasagar dist.

 

">@ranojpegu today, inaugurated a COVID ward with a 40-bedded ICU in Siu-Ka-Pha Multi-speciality Hospital, Sivasagar. Dir. DHS, Dy. Secy. H&FW, DC & ADC were present on the occasion," minister Mahanta tweeted.

On the other hand, Assam in the past 24 hours, reported 2,869 fresh COVID-19 cases and 37 deaths.

Of the total new cases,198 cases were from Kamrup Metro (M) district.

States recovery rate is now 92.37%.
