ASSAM: AKRSU STAGED DHARNA IN CHIRANG

Guwahati, July 4, 2018:

The members of AKRSU led by President Arun Roy, General Secretary Gokul Das and AKRSU president Biswajit Rai staged three hour dharna to release Mrs Anna Bala Roy who was sent detention center in Kokrajhar after she was declared D voter Foreigners Tribunal Chirang.

According to AKRSU Koch Rajbongshi are unnecessarily harassed asking for related documents in ongoing NRC process despite original inhabitants of the state.

After the protest, AKRSU submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Shri Sarbanand Sonwal through DC Chirang. AKRSU demanded immediate release of Mrs Anna Bala Roy from the detention camp by Foreigners Tribunal and to stop unnecessary harassment upon the Koch Rajbongshi people by Foreigners Tribunal in NRC process and also to update the names of All Koch Rajbongshi NRC as original inhabitants of Assam under the provision of 3(3).
