The ravaging annual floods have claimed a total of 103 lives so far in Assam. A total of 22 districts are reeling under floodwaters, according to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. Another facet of the floods has been excessive erosion in the state.

There are places of erosion at Sorai Chapori (Na-mati, Naromori, Dolijolia) under Dakhin Ahataguri GP, Bilotia, Huttar and Rioti under Ahataguri GP and Kartik Chapori under Kamalabari GP.

The affected districts are Sonitpur, Dibrugarh, Barpeta, Majuli, Lakhimpur, Udalguri, Nalbari, Chirang, Biswanath, Baksa, South Salmara, Sivasagar, Tinsukia, Golaghat, Charaideo, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Nagaon.

The Brahmaputra and its tributaries have eroded away more than 427,000 (4.27 lakh) hectares of land since 1950 which is nearly 8,000 ha. 

Several rivers including the mighty Brahmaputra in different parts of Assam are flowing above danger level, causing floods and consequently leaving thousands of families homeless.

The Brahmaputra is flowing above the danger level at Neematighat in Jorhat and Dhubri. Jia Dharali at NT Road Crossing and Kopili at Nagaon and Dhansiri at Numaligarh.

A total of 22,33,920 people and 1,09,236 hectares of cropland across 2026 villages have been affected by the flood. So far 8,07,690 big animals, 4,29,097 small animals and 9,03,092 poultry are also affected.

As per the latest data, the flood-affected districts are Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darrang, Baksa, Nalbari, Barpeta, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, South Salmara, Goalpara, Kamrup, Kamrup (M), Morigaon, Nagaon, Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, Karbi-Anglong and Cachar. A total of 432 relief camps have been installed. In the relief camps, there are so far 45,565 people.

Meanwhile, the Kaziranga National park in Assam is badly affected with 80% area submerged and according to Forest department report, a total of 132 animals have died in this flood season and 157 animal have been rescued. 73 animals have died from drowning, 18 have died from vehicle hits and 17 died under treatment.

In a recent incident, a Rhino who strayed out of the park in the highway has moved back now into the park. Such cases of displacement have been common ever since the onset of floods.
