On the sixth day of the first wave of the flood affected 719 numbers of villages in six number of District such as Hojai, Cachar, Golaghat, Hailakandi, Karimganj, and Nagaon of Assam.

Only crop areas have been affected in Morigaon districts, in the flood. Areas like Dhansiri at Numaligarh (Golaghat), Barak at A.P. Ghat (Cachar) and Badarpurghat (Karimganj), Katakhal at Matizuri (Hailakandi), Kushiyara at Karimganj (Karimganj) are flowing above danger level.

Total number of affected population today is 5,48,986, where twomore persons, one from Hailakandi and one from Cachar lost their lives today in the Flood taking the total death toll to 11 for Floods and embankment Breach has been reported in Cachar.

Fresh incidents of Landslides have occurred in Mahur, Harangajao, Maibang under Halflong Revenue Circle in Dima Hasao where NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) and SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) teams have been engaged into service in the flood affected areas for search and rescue operation.

Today, 8201 more Persons were rescued in from Karimganj district, Hailakandi, and Cachar by SDRF and NDRF personnel along with 225 number of Relief Camps are operational in Karimganj, Hailakandi, and Cachar with 1,59,652 inmates, 6473 among which are children and 212 number of Relief Distribution Centres are also operational in Golaghat, Cachar and Karimganj Districts of Assam.

Chief Minister of Assam Shri Sarbananda Sonowal is keeping a close eye on the developing flood situation and has directed to take all measures to tackle the flood in an effective manner. On his direction, the Chief Executive Officer, Assam State Disaster Management Authority, Shri. Rajesh Prasad along with Project Manager (Response) Assam State Disaster Management Authority visited Cachar to take stock of the flood scenario.
