Assam Forest Dept Seizes Sal Logs worth Rs. 20 Lakhs in Indo-Bhutan Bordersal

Kokrajhar, December 28, 2019:

The Forest department of Assam has seized Sal logs worth Rs. 20 lakhs from the Athiabari Eastern Range of Ripu Reserve Forest in the Indo-Bhutan border.

Based on an intelligence input, a search operation was conducted in the Daoraigaonnai and Khashibari villages and seized the Sal logs worth Rs. 8 lakhs.

Members of Anti-Corruption team, Crime Investigation Front and Assam Forest Protection launched the search operation and seized the smuggled Sal logs. According to Forest officials, the logs would amount to Rs. 8 lakhs. The logs have been sent to the Gossaigaon Forest department.

On the other hand, another team launched an operation in Rupnathpur village and seized another lot of smuggled Sal wood logs worth Rs. 12 lakhs.
