Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has ordered an investigation into the incident where a morphed screenshot of a tweet of him related to increase of positive coronavirus cases in the state went viral.
The tweet states Alert ~ 8 more patients, who travelled in the bus from Rajasthan in which the Cachar dist #COVID19+ person traveled, have tested positive.
Taking a serious note in the matter, the minister clarified that he did not post any such information on the micro-blogging site – Twitter. Sarma, while saying that the screenshot was altered/morphed, directed the Director General of Police, Assam, to conduct a probe into the matter.
It is pertinent to be mention that the Assam police has continuously been fighting against rumours amid the coronavirus pandemic.
It may be mentioned that there is no increase in COVID-19 cases in the state after three people including an ambulance driver from Mumbai, who drove the two, tested positive for COVID-19 in Jorhat. Later, the driver was sent back to Mumbai.
So far, Assam has registered 62 positive COVID-19 cases; of which 34 have been cured/ discharged.
