Guwahati, April 9, 2019:

Assam will go to polls for General Elections-2019 in Phase 1 on April 11, 2019, less than 48 hours from now.

People will vote on Thursday for the five Parliamentary Constituencies (PCs) of Phase I: Tezpur, Kaliabor, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, and Lakhimpur

Out of 14 Parliamentary Constituencies, five of the above-mentioned constituencies will undergo polls on Thursday, with another five to be contested in Phase II, while four will be contested in Phase III.

There are just 48 hours left to decide the fate of the 41 candidates, which includes two women and twelve independent candidates.

9,574 polling stations are being set up this time for the Phase-I of the elections in Assam. As many as 7,603,458 voters will vote in the first phase Assam with 3,865,334 males, 3,737,970 females and 154 voters in third gender category who will vote from five constituencies to elect their representative.
