In a significant breakthrough in Assam’s ongoing fight against narcotics, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma lauded the efforts of the state police for their successful drug busts in two separate locations.
Sharing the details of the operations on social media, CM Sarma highlighted the intense action taken against drug trafficking in the region.
According to the Chief Minister, based on reliable intelligence inputs, Assam Police executed a series of anti-narcotics operations that led to the recovery of drugs valued at over Rs 8 crore. In Biswanath, police intercepted a vehicle at Naka Point on National Highway 15, seizing a staggering 314 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth Rs 1.57 crore.
In a parallel operation, Cachar Police launched two special raids in Silchar and Ramnagar, resulting in the seizure of 572 grams of heroin and 10,000 YABA tablets. The total value of these drugs is pegged at Rs 7 crore. The police also apprehended one individual in connection with the operations.
The Assam government continues to intensify its war on drugs, with CM Sarma reiterating the administration's commitment to eradicating the narcotics menace from the state.
