GUWAHATI: As the counting progresses with full swing in the 5 constituencies of Assam, United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) takes lead in the 7th round with 30,600 votes for the Gossaigaon constituency.
Congress stands at the second position with 12,184 followed by BPF with 11,448.
BJP candidate for Mariani Rupjyoti Kurmi leading by 26538 votes over Raijor Dal candidate Sanjib Gogoi.
Thowrah's BJP candidate Sushanta Borgohain leading by 14680 votes over Raijor Dal candidate Dharya Konwar.
The polls witnessed a cumulative voter turnout of 74.04 per cent of which the highest count at 78 per cent was recorded at Bhabanipur assembly seat
Gossaigaon resgistered a voter turnout of 77.37 per cent followed by Tamulpur 67.88 per cent.
77.56 per cent was recorded at Thowra and a 71.70 per cent turnout at Mariani seat.
The polling took place on 30th October in Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Tamulpur, Mariani and Thowra assembly segments, with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols.
