The police and security forces have resorted to open firing and lathi charge to stop the students who have been protesting against the contentious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.
The students from across the city have launched massive protests where thousands of students from different colleges have joined-in.

The situation has turned violent as the police and the security forces have been trying to push away the protesters and lathi-charged on them. The police and security forces have also smoke gas and open fire on them.
Despite such violent situations in the city, the students are on their movement towards Assam Secretariat with the aim “Dispur Gherao”.
Meanwhile, the contentious Bill has been discussed at the Rajya Sabha that has been introduced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Rajya Sabha is witnessing heated debate by the opposition who are seen opposing the bill in the Upper House.
