GUWAHATI: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Biswajit Daimary from Paneri constituency took oath as a speaker of the new Assam Legislative Assembly in Bodo language at the first session of the new Assam legislative assembly.

After taking oath CM Sarma taking to Twitter wrote, "Today I along with my esteemed colleagues took oath as Members of 15th Legislative Assembly of Assam. Indeed a great honour to have been sworn in today. Along with my honoured colleagues, we shall continue to strengthen the spirit of democracy. Bows to the will of the PEOPLE."
The former chief minister of the state Sarbananda Sonowal also took the oath.
"Took oath as a member of the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly. It is my honour to once again serve the people and I promise to work towards building the Assam of our dreams," former CM Sarbananda Sonowal tweeted.
Jailed activist Akhil Gogoi has taken oath as MLA of Sivasagar from Raijor Dal.
On the other hand, BJP legislators Jayanta Malla Baruah and Amiya Kumar Bhuyan took oath in Sanskrit language.
Assam state BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass took oath as MLA from Patacharkuchi.
The oath was administered by pro-tem speaker Phani Bhushan Choudhury.
