Guwahati, April 9, 2019:

In a latest development, one person has been arrested in relation to the mob violence Assam's Biswanath Chariali where a 68-year-old man was beaten up and force-fed pork for allegedly selling beef. Assam's Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia confirmed that a person named 'Dipen' has been arrested in relation to the incident.

The victim, Shaukat Ali, was later admitted to Biswanath Chariali's Civil hospital after he sustained serious injuries during the beatdown.

The incident, which occurred four days ago, was captured on camera and has since gone viral on social media platforms.

Earlier, a case had been registered against the culprits at Biswanath Chariali Police Station vide Case no. 80/ 2019 u/s 143/ 341/ 325/ 294(a)/ 295-A/ 153- A(b)/ 384 IPC and authorities have started operations to nab all the culprits.
