A head constable of the Border Security Force was allegedly shot dead by a constable after a 'heated argument' at the Lakhipur Border Outpost in Karimganj on Tuesday night.
Speaking to InsideNE, Karimganj SP Gaurav Upadhayay said that the head constable identified as Ashok Kumar Kangaria of the 7Bn was allegedly shot dead by constable Shiv Yogi Pandey over an argument last night at around 9:15 pm. Another head constable, AR Pal was also severely injured during the "attack".
The SP informed that following the incident, Pandey escaped from the spot with his service rifle, 40 rounds of ammunition and a wireless set.
As soon as the police was informed, a search operation was initiated and he was arrested on Wednesday morning from Karimganj Town,
The constable is currently being interrogated by the district police and is will be produced before the court by the end of the day.
