Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma landed in Kokrajhar today ahead of CM Sarbananda Sonowal’s visit to lay the foundation stone of the Kokrajhar Medical College on January 6. He was met by BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary and Tourism Minister Chandan Brahma.
Speaking to the media, Chandan Brahma had the following to say: “In personal as well as social lives, I wish everyone a peace as well as happiness. May God bless everyone and may our area go forward in a prosperous direction. May the youth find enthusiasm to dream big.”
Talking to InsideNe, Education Minister, BTC, said: “The Chief Minister of Assam will lay foundation stone of Kokrajhar Medical College and thus, Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has visited Kokrajhar today. We have acquired 278 bighas of land and from the BTC government to build the medical college. Rs. 382 crores have been sanctioned for this project. We are inviting the people of BTC to attend the foundation of the college on 6 January.”
The college will take approximately 3 years to complete and is seen as a huge milestone in the educational infrastructure in the BTAD region.
