Cachar Paper Mill workers’ stir disrupts movement of vehicular traffic

Guwahati (Assam), September 26, 2018:

The movement of vehicular traffic on a national highway connecting Cachar, Karimganj and Hailakandi districts in Barak Valley was disrupted on Wednesday during a four-hour long blockade enforced by the HPC Paper Mill Revival Action Committee.

The protest was staged demanding the reopening of Cachar Paper Mill and Nagaon Paper Mill. Operations in both the mills have remained suspended for close to two years.

The action committee expressed its gratefulness to several non-political and students’ organisations which lent their support during the stir. It was optimistic about getting similar support from them during its future course of actions
