Engine of Kanchanjungha Express derails in Dima Hasao

Guwahati (Assam), September 6, 2018:

The engine of Silchar-Kolkata Kanchanjungha Express derailed after a wild buffalo was run over by the train in Dima Hasao district on Thursday.

The incident took place at a place between New Haflong and Jatinga railway stations.

“Only the engine was derailed. All passengers are safe,” Northeast Frontier Railways chief spokesperson Pranab Jyoti Sarma told InsideNe. He added that the carcass was yet to be retrieved following which efforts would be made to put the engine back on track.
