The much talked about and long pending passenger ropeway over the Brahmaputra river connecting Guwahati with North Guwahati will be formally inaugurated on Monday. It will be the country’s as well as Asia’s longest ropeway over a river. The ropeway will cover a distance of two kilometers in nine minutes. The ropeway has two cabins, each with a capacity of 30 passengers.Ticket fare of the ropeway for one way will be Rs. 60 and Rs. 100 for both way journey. The ropeway project cost Rs. 56 crore and it took over two years to get completed.

Assam Health & Family Welfare Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Guwahati Development Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya will formally inaugurate the ropeway on Monday.

The ropeway will be a great help to the commuters between Guwahati and North Guwahati as it will save the travel time and offer a convenient journey over the river.
