Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Ripun Bora on Wednesday alleged that the Election Commission of India (ECI) are puppets of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and also said that Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is campaigning for the BJP in "frustration".
Addressing the media, Ripun Bora said, “Voting has been done in all the 14 constituencies. 81 percent turnout has been recorded which is a good sign of democracy. Congress did well to stand up and pull down the BJP from their high perch. The Modi wave or Modi tsunami is nowhere to be seen. We (the Congress) are getting a positive response from the media even though the media is biased. Moreover, Himanta Biswa Sarma has been campaigning in frustration.”
It is widely alleged that the Finance Minister Biswa Sarma, who was expected to contest the Lok Sabha polls, is "frustrated" after the party leadership asked him not to do so.
