At a time when communal tensions are at an all time high across India, the Hindus and Muslims in Tiloinagar area in Assam's Moran, have set a great example of communal harmony by observing the age-old festival, Kali Puja, together.

This celebration dates back to 1969, and is one of the oldest celebrations in the area to invoke the mother goddess. Setting a positive example of brotherhood, the Hindus and Muslims of Assam's Moran area are celebrating the golden jubilee this time.

Hindu-Muslims of Moran in Assam's Dibrugarh district are observing Golden Jubilee (50 years) celebrations of Kali Puja. The Muslims were seen distributing kheer and sweets to the people, and for a moment at least, religious barriers were overlooked in favour of love, mutual respect and camaraderie.

One of the Muslim men at the celebration said, "The Kali Puja committee invited two Muslim organizations to take part in their Golden Jubilee, and we are grateful for that. We will observe the festivities together."

Tiloinagar Kali Puja will be a 3-day long festivity. The two communities are sending out a great example of brotherhood and harmony with their joint participation.
