Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council CEM Tuliram Ronghang visited the West Karbi Anglong Chingthong Constituency under Murap village, reaching out and interacting with the villagers.
The village populated by 225 families has been neglected by the government in the past, evidenced by the 15 km hike one has to make in order to reach the nearest market.
Despite suffering from hardships due to lack of electricity, schools, potable water and medical facilities, the villagers eke out a living by cultivating jhum, ginger and brooms. No CEM had set foot in the remote area since 1951.
CEM Ronghang assured the constituency that schemes for installation of solar panels and construction of roads had already been implemented.
He also added, “for availability of proper healthcare facilities at Murap, we have issued direction to EM of Medical Department Khonsing Rongpi to construct Medical Sub-Centre soon, and also promised to bring the villages into connectivity network and to develop educational facilities in the remotest of areas.”
