“It's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years”
The above quoted line perfectly aligns the life of Parag Kumar Das who only with a lifespan of 35 years became a voice against the odds in the state, a helmsman of Journalism in Assam. His campaign to restore Human Rights is credible of its own kind. The torchbearer of Manab Adhikar Sangram( MASS) , his battle was one to safeguard the rights of the indigenous people such that they can exercise their own rights.
Being the editor of ‘Budhbar’ and ‘Aagan' he waged a long war against all the glitch disguised as anti - insurgency acts. He was critical of the ULFA too and stood staunchly against the outfit.
His unprecedented voice was tried many a times to be dabbed underneath the extremities but he rose out strong everytime. Finally he had to succumb to death when some unknown assailants slayed him on broad daylight on 17th May, 1996
Though subjected to death, the ideals of this gallant is till vibrant in every Assamese with true patriotism
Had there been more sons like Parag Kumar Das on the soil of Assam, the land would not have been confronted to the deplorability of the present time.
