Six out of the eight-member delegation of Trinamool Congress (TMC) that reached Silchar on Thursday afternoon returned to Kolkata by early morning flight on Friday. Two members of the delegation were still at the airport till the filing of this report.
Earlier, high drama was witnessed at Kumbhirgram airport in Silchar post the arrival of the eight-member TMC delegation on Thursday.
The members were barred from coming out of the airport by security personnel after the Cachar district administration, anticipating breakdown of law and order, imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC.
They spent the night at the airport before six of them left for Kolkata on Friday morning.
The TMC delegation reached Silchar on Thursday on a two-day visit to assess the situation in Assam following publication of the complete NRC draft on July 30.
The delegation was scheduled to visit the State Capital on Friday, but Guwahati Police barred its entry into the city as well.
