This is a story of compassion. Earlier today, a wild deer had strayed into human-inhabited lands in Nimati Bhaganiya Village in Assam's Jorhat district.

A man named Dutta reportedly "caught" the deer and handed it over to the Forest Officials. Dutta and the villagers tied the deer up with ropes and
"The deer was moving along the road. In Nimatighat, it was caught and they handed it over to the officials. It was a healthy male. The people of the village must be commended for rescuing the deer and not eating it. Venison is a rich delicacy in these parts...this is a pure act of compassion", a local informed Inside Northeast.
Later, the forest officials released the deer into the Gibbon Sanctuary in nearby Mariani, and the wild deer eventually bounded off into the forest. The animal certainly had had an eventful day. Phew!
