Assam: 30 houses gutted in massive fire in Dibrugarh, firefighting efforts underway

In a devastating incident, a fire swept through the Dhobipatty locality in Assam's Dibrugarh district on Wednesday, October 23, engulfing at least 30 houses. The blaze, reportedly sparked by two suspected cylinder explosions, rapidly spread through the densely populated area, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

The affected properties included 30 rented homes and the personal residence of a local individual identified as Ashok, who owned the buildings. All structures were completely reduced to ashes despite the residents' efforts to combat the flames.

Firefighting teams were promptly alerted, but their response was hampered by the narrow access roads leading to the site, delaying their arrival. As a result, residents had to take matters into their own hands, working together to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further. Their swift action played a crucial role in managing the situation and averting a potential catastrophe.

Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported, providing a small relief amid the extensive property damage caused by the blaze. Authorities are investigating the exact cause of the fire, while efforts are underway to assist those affected by the loss.
