Rangia police on January 23 arrested four youth along with fake army identity cards after a search operation was conducted at Rangia railway station by the police patrolling team.
The four arrested persons have been identified as Nabin Kumar, Jeevan, Sarjit and Manu Sharma.
The police team also seized two luxury cars – Audi and Renault Scala from the arrested persons. Upon questioning, it was found that all the arrested persons hail from Haryana.
The police are currently interrogating the four at Rangia police station.
Speaking to media, the Sub Inspector of Rangia police Alex Sonowal said, “A team was on night patrolling duty. We reached the Rangia police station and found two suspected luxury cars bearing Haryana and Delhi registration numbers, standing at the station. Due to suspicion rising on the two luxury cars, we initiated a search of the two vehicles. Upon search, we recovered one fake army identity card. On questioning, one of the occupants in the car said that he is an army personnel. When we asked for more documents to prove their identity, they failed to do so and brought the four to the Rangia police station for more questioning. After further verifying with one of the personnel from the Red Horn Army division camp, we were confirmed that the army identity card is fake. Following this a case was registered against the four. Currently interrogation is underway. Four persons have been apprehended. On further questioning, the four apprehended persons said that to save toll tax they made this fake identity card".
