Assam: 553rd Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrated at Gurdwara Dhubri Saheb in Dhubri

The 553rd Guru Nanak Jayanti was celebrated at the historic Gurdwara Dhubri Saheb in Dhubri on Tuesday, November 8 with religious fervour.

The 'Akhand Path' recitation started from 10 am on November 6 and the bhog of 'Akhand Path' was held at 10.30 am which was followed by Kirtan Darbar.

People from the Sikh community attended the religious functions including the ‘langar’ as the town is coloured with religious hymns and celebrations.

On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti, ‘guru ka langar’ is going on round the clock in the Gurdwara. Speaking with the reporters, Kuldeep Singh, Manager, Sikh Representative Board Eastern Zone, said that on November 26th, 27th and 28th the Shaheedi Diwas of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahibji, the ninth Guru of Sikhs, will be held at the historic Gurdwara Dhubri Saheb in Dhubri.

Guru Nanak Jayanti marks the birth of first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, who laid the foundation of Sikhism.

On this day, devotees around the world offer prayers at the Gurudwara. Prime Minister Narendra Modi too participated in a function on the eve of Guru Nanak Jayanti in New Delhi on November 7.
