Assam: 7-year-old charred to death after massive fire breaks out in residential area in Goalpara

In an utterly tragic incident, a 7-year-old child was charred to death after a massive fire broke out in a house in Assam’s Goalpara on the night of May 6.

The fire broke out a residential house belonging to one Shahjahan Ali in Lewari area of Goalpara in which the minor child was charred to death.

A senior cop of Mornoi Police Station while speaking to the reporters stated, “We got information from the locals about a major fire outbreak and immediately reached the spot. We informed the fire brigade and managed to douse the fire. While checking for damages we found a small child lying inside whose age might be around 8-10 years of age. We sent the body to the Goalpara Civil Hospital. Actually the fire turned into a major disaster after the gas cylinder blast”

The massive fire spread to both the houses belonging to Shahjahan which was gutted in fire despite attempts by the locals to douse the fire.

Meanwhile, it is suspected that the reason behind the fire might be due to a short circuit, however a probe to identify the exact cause behind the fire has been initiated.
