Assam: 7-year-old mauled to death in tiger attack in Dibrugarh’s Namrup

A horrific incident took place late evening of April 24 after a fully grown adult tiger mauled a 7-year-old boy in Namrup under Dibrugarh district.

The incident took place near Line 5 of Satishpur Garden under Namrup police station, where a minor boy was attacked by an adult tiger while he was on his way to home.

The deceased boy has been identified as Shiva Kewat.

After finding the boy had not returned home, family members set out looking for Shiva and upon search found the dead body of the boy amid the tea garden.

On the other hand, family members of the deceased have alleged extreme irresponsibility on the part of the forest department. They alleged that even after 12 hours of the incident, no official from the forest department have reached the spot.

For months now, tigers have been killing the livestock of the local people in the area.

Despite repeated reports, the forest department and the garden authorities have not taken any action, alleged locals.
