At a time when the Centre, as well as the state government, is laying stress on connectivity across the country, a video has come to light from Assam’s Bongaigaon district where a couple of men can be seen transporting a patient on a cart due to the lack of ambulance services in the region.
The video also shows the man being advised on helping the ailing patient to lie in a more comfortable manner as the relative of the patient goes on to correct the arrangement of the cart and help the patient be more comfortable.
Speaking to the media, the patient's son said, "Today morning my mother received a pressure stroke and called up the 108 ambulances but failed to reach us."
Further, he claimed that looking at the emergency they had to take the help of a cart and bring his mother to the Dina Ram Memorial Hospital and travel a distance of at least 2 km.
Slamming the government, he said that the road from his native village to the hospital is in its worst condition and despite repetitive pledges, allegedly no one paid a heap including the local MLA and Gaon Panchayat president.
The incident which took place in Kacharipet GP of Bongaigaon district has been deprived of a road for a long time, following which no vehicle including ambulances are barred to enter the area.
Further locals accompanying the patient also claimed that the depleted road is the only road to the Kacharipet GP of Bongaigaon district which is majorly taken by hundreds of students to reach LP and ME schools in the area and sometimes people have to swim across to reach their destinations.
