Assam: Bajali man bravely rescues four youths from drowning in Pahumara River

A 25-year-old man from Bajali is being hailed as a hero by the villagers for rescuing four youths from the mouth of death. Champak Roy rescued four youths from drowning in Pahumara River in Bajali on Shashthi.

As per sources, four youths namely Anup, Juman, Vikas and Tanmoy went to take bath at the Pahumara River on the sixth day of Navratri (October 20). Champak, who was also present near the river, saw the youths drowning and quickly jumped into the river and rescued the four youths.

"Few youths had come to take bath in the river, while I was also taking bath at a distance. At a distance another youth Dishanku was also washing his hair. Suddenly, I saw all the youths drowning, and I quickly jumped into the river and tried to bring the youths towards the bank as the river is very deep. Soon, we reached to the banks and saw one fish net, grabbed it and threw in the river so that the youths can hold it. After reaching to the bank with the youths, I too became unconscious and later saw that the youths were rescued while another youth Dishanku miraculously came out of the river and left. The youths were younger to me. I somehow gathered courage and rescued them as they are very young", said Champak Roy while speaking to the media.

Champak's quick thinking and action is being hailed by the villagers of Hawkertop in Bajali.
