Assam: Bajrang Dal stages protest over cow slaughter in Tinsukia district

Bajrang Dal on December 19 staged a massive protest over the alleged illegal cow slaughtering in Assam's Tinsukia district and claimed that the police are scared of visiting the area.

The Hindu outfit also alleged that illegal cow slaughtering and the sale of beef products are taking place in the district without a certificate from a competent authority.

They further said that the Tinsukia District Administration has been informed on several occasions about the illegal acts which are running within the Tinsukia district.

''But neither Tinsukia district administration nor Tinsukia Police has been acting and has not been implementing the aforesaid acts in the said district to safe the cattle from illegal slaughtering,'' Bajrang Dal alleged.

Speaking over the matter, a Bajrang Dal member said that despite repeated complaints in this regard, the police have remained silent.

''In this country sentiments of every people are being taken care of but our sentiments are always taken for granted. We are catching the culprits and handing over them to police despite that police are quiet,'' he added.

He also alleged that police always deny them to give permission for carrying out a protest citing that Section 144 CrPc has been imposed.

''Whenever we approach the administration seeking permission to carry out protest, the administration often denied it. So, this means such things will occur and we will remain quiet over the issue,'' he said.

He further said that those officers who can't work need to be replaced with other officers.

Following the incident, the Bajrang Dal also demanded to immediately cancel the License of the illegal slaughterhouse which contravenes the provisions of the Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021, and punish them.

They further demanded the administration initiate strict action against those people or organization who has been running illegal slaughterhouse under Assam Cattle Preservation Act, 2021.

''The District Veterinary department shall not issue any slaughter license certificate of slaughter to any person under the provision of Assam Cattles Preservation Act, 2021 who contravenes the provision of this act,'' they demanded.
