Assam: Beki river erosion leaves families homeless in Kalgachia

Relentless erosion of the Beki River wreaks havoc in Balaipathar village of Assam’s Barpeta. The erosion has left families homeless in Kalgachia.

An RCC house is slowly submerged by the Beki River and a  total of 50 families have been affected by the erosion.
The rising waters have been continuing for the last two months, displacing more than 50 families. Visuals of Surman Ali's RCC house being swallowed up by the river stand as a warning to other families at risk.

Despite the crisis, Jania MLA Dr. Hafiz Rafiqul Islam and Barpeta MP Abdul Khaleque have not shown any immediate response.
