Assam: Bhogali Bihu celebrations in Bongaigaon to feature a Chandrayaan-3 inspired meji

Bhogali Bihu, a major festival in the state, is just days away and preparations are in full swing across the region.

The excitement is palpable in Talguri of Boitamari, Bongaigaon district, where locals are putting in efforts to celebrate Bhogali.

This year, the residents of Talguri have decided to build their meji, a traditional structure, in the likeness of Chandrayaan-3.

This unique meji is being decorated with bamboo and hay. Traditional Assamese items are also being prepared for the festivities.

According to local customs, the festival will be adorned with an abundance of woolen garlands.

The Talguri Bhogali Utsav Udjapan Samiti officials have announced that they will light the fire in the meji on the day after Uruka, following a grand feast on the eve of the festival.
