The two-day Winter Session of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) Legislative Assembly concluded today at the Council Assembly building in Bodofa Nwgwr, Kokrajhar.
During the session, two significant pieces of legislation were passed. The Bodoland Territorial Council Flood Plain Zoning Bill, 2024, and the BTC Land & Revenue Regulation (Application & Amendment) Bill, 2024 received approval from the assembly. These bills are expected to bring about important changes in land management and flood control within the BTC region.
Additionally, the Pramod Boro-led BTC Government secured an amount of Rs. 14 Lakh (Fourteen Crore Fifty-Seven Lakh Eighty-Seven Thousand) under the Supplementary Demands for Grants.
This funding is aimed at increasing the salaries and travel allowances of the BTC Speaker, Chief Executive Member (CEM), Deputy CEM, and Member of Council Legislative Assembly (MCLA) members. The demand was presented against the backdrop of the normal budget passed in the August 2024 Budget Session.
The passing of these bills and the supplementary grants marks a key moment in the ongoing governance of the Bodoland Territorial Region.
