Assam: BPF's Shuddha Basumatari files nomination for Sidli by-election amidst strong public support

Shuddha Basumatari, the Bodoland People's Front (BPF) candidate for the Sidli Legislative Assembly Constituency by-election, submitted his nomination papers on Friday, drawing thousands of supporters despite challenging weather conditions. The submission took place at the district commissioner’s office in Kajolgaon, with a massive turnout underscoring strong grassroots support.

On the final day for nomination submissions for the by-elections in five state constituencies, BPF President Hagrama Mohilary addressed a large public gathering at the district sports association's playground in Sidli. He urged the public to secure a decisive victory for Basumatari, confidently predicting a margin of 80,000 votes in the candidate’s favor.

During his speech, Mohilary questioned the United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) claims of victory in the last assembly elections, asserting that genuine success would have prompted no further celebration. He also announced efforts to bring former BPF leader Chandan Brahma back into the party, stating that discussions with him are already underway.
