The Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has introduced the Doctorate Fellowship Award Scheme to assist students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).

Education Director JP Brahma announced the initiative during a press conference at the Bodoland Guest House. The fellowship, part of the Giyan Swrang Bithangkhi Scheme, aims to support 50 students each year, providing a scholarship of Rs 1.8 lakh per recipient to pursue higher education.

The first phase of the programme has begun with a screening process at the Bodoland Guest House, where 111 applications have already been received. According to Brahma, this is the first fellowship of its kind introduced by the BTC Government to promote educational opportunities for underprivileged students in the region.
