A video of porters allegedly smuggling cattle heads from Meghalaya to Bangladesh, has emerged online.
As per sources, dozens of cattle are being smuggled via Jaintapur in the Sylhet region of Bangladesh each day, breaking the law and putting one in perilous circumstances.
Significantly, most of the cattle are reported to have been smuggled from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and later sent to Meghalaya and from where sold in Bangladesh via the international border.
Sources confirm that numbers and alphabets are written on the hump of the cows, disclosing an intriguing tale of animal brutality.
While the numbers and alphabets are printed on the Indian side by the smugglers, the porters on the other side utilise them to identify the smuggled cattle purchasers by the code numbers and alphabets.
