Assam: Clashes erupt between AASU, BJP workers over post student election celebration in Barpeta

A major clash ensued between AASU and BJP workers at Sarbhog in Barpeta, Assam on Saturday night (November 11) over bursting of crackers.

Tension erupted after BJP workers beat up AASU workers for allegedly bursting crackers in front of Sarbhog BJP office in Barpeta. As per sources, AASU supporters took out a rally after Students Unity Meeting at Barnagar College after sweeping student's election.

Two AASU supporters Mrinal Talukdar and Palas Das were injured when a BJP worker Yuvraj Das beat them up with an iron rod. The clash continued when BJP leader Anjali Das and mother of Yuvraj Das reached Shaheed Bhawan and began attacking police personnel who had gathered at Shaheed Bhawan to control the situation.

Anjali Das, who is also wife of former president of Sarbhog municipality and current deputy mayor Sampada Das, barged inside the Shaheed Bhawan and started attacking the police personnel with iron rod. 

Videos that have emerged show cops folding hands and asking the BJP leader to calm down.
