Assam’s Minister for Rural Development and BJP leader Ranjeet Kumar Dass announced significant progress under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
Speaking about the state’s achievements, Dass stated, “The target was 20 lakh houses, and we have completed exactly 19,52,339.”
Highlighting the support received from the central government, Dass added, “When 19 lakh houses were completed, the Prime Minister gave us 1 lakh 72 thousand free houses. Out of this, we have already completed 10,000 houses.”

Despite the impressive progress, the Minister acknowledged that challenges remain. “According to our estimate, approximately 6 lakh people are yet to get homes,” he said, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ensuring housing for all.
The PMAY initiative in Assam aims to provide affordable housing to the underprivileged, with significant strides already made in improving rural livelihoods and infrastructure.
